Tales of my Tudor Pelagos 39
This story is about my Tudor Pelagos 39. I will update this as I add more to the story of this watch. I bought my Pelagos 39 on 28NOV2023 in Florence, Italy while my parents were coming out to visit me and my wife. It was kind of a spur of the moment decision. I had been telling my dad about the Pelagos, as I was originally interested in the 42mm model and I wanted to try one on to see how it fit, I had just started considering a 39 about a week earlier but I really wanted a date wheel on my watch. I googled the watch stores in the area and found one called “Cassetti”. When I went to look at their inventory I saw the 42mm and the 39. I asked the sales lady if I could try them both on and she let me. I told here I needed to talk to my wife and I would be back later. After a discussion with my wife she decided to come with me to buy my new watch. When we returned I tried both on again and couldn’t decide which one I liked more (pictures of both on my wrist included). After almost 15 minutes of going back and forth between the two I decided on the 39mm model because of its slim profile and overall look / fit on my wrist (I have a 6.5” wrist). Another 10 minutes later and €4,720 down and I was the proud owner of my very own Tudor Pelagos 39! The next day we took a trip to Pompeii and I got some of the first nice shots of the Pelagos 39.
The next big memory I made with it was on a trip to Norway in January of 2024. We decided to take this trip to see the Northern Lights… but also so I could get my VAT refund for my watch, which originally was going to be about €830, but after all the fees and conversions I got $535 (€487.43). My wife and I flew to Tromso, Norway which was a hassle that resulted in us losing our checked bags for two days. But ultimately led to an amazing trip. I wore my Pelagos 39 while I sat in a sauna and then jumped into the freezing arctic ocean (it was 39°F/ 4°C). We then went to go see the Northern Lights in the city, and eventually made our way to the cable car (Fjellheisen Tromsø) to look at the Northern Lights a bit better. To end our trip we rented a car and made our way about two hours south to Øverbygd, where we went dog sledding. The temperature out was -15°C (5°F), it was freezing but I had an amazing time!
I cannot wait to go on more adventures and have more stories with this watch and one day pass it down to my kids!
